About the Program

We have an active research program at NCN. One component of our research program is drug research, or "clinical trials." We conduct clinical trials of new drugs for psychiatry and neurology; and of new applications for old drugs. We do Phase II, III, and IV trials, and we have been at it for more than 20 years.

Clinical trials are done in Chapel Hill or Charlotte: two areas that are demographically diverse and amenable to research recruitment. Patients are recruited from patient rolls, from our referral base and from advertising.

At NCN, the contract and regulatory processes for new studies are expedited. We usually use centralized IRB's. NCN's Research Director provides in-house monitoring for quality control. All coordinators are experienced and certified. Clinical staff participating in research studies includes a psychiatrist, two psychologists, registered nurse, two physician assistants and support staff.

Clinical Trials Program

We routinely conduct clinical trials in the following areas:

  • ADD
  • Mood disorders
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Cognitive Disorders
  • Chronic pain

We offer trials for adults and children. We are equipped to conduct pharmacokinetic studies, and have an extremely active neurocognitive assessment branch.

For more information about clinical trials contact Laura Malcolm at 919.933.2000 x 123.
